I was selected to represent my high school as a member of Joslin's Junior Club in 1967. Many girls from each high school were invited to audition for a single position in the club. I still don't know why I was selected over cheerleaders, Homecoming princesses and girls much prettier than I, but it remains an honor to me to this day. We had monthly meetings at the newly built Villa Italia store and we frequently did "live modeling" at the stores on Saturdays, where we replaced mannequins and held a pose for as long as we could. It was so much fun when people would stop to admire a dress or outfit we were wearing and suddenly realized we were live people. The summer of 1967, Joslins sponsored a huge fashion show and brought in The Association, an extremely popular nationally known band (Cherish was its most well-known hit) to perform at the beautiful "old Elitch Gardens" in the Tracadero Ballroom. The JJC members modeled in the fashion show. Years later I became a buyer in the junior department at the downtown store. I later moved to Phoenix where I worked at the Park Central Goldwater's store.
