After that, I worked at Gimbels in the fabric department in 1966 for a bit. I was also sent to the bargain basement fabric area. I had to use the cash register. That was ok, but I never closed but had to do it. I'm sure I didn't do it right. I think we trained for 2 days before going to the floor. I liked working there...my first real job. I wanted to make the displayed clothes in the fabric department. A girl from sewing school had the job "sewn up". I went to Kaufman's and applied for the position there. They must have called Gimbels because my boss, Mr. John? Elder called me into the office. I knew I was stuck cutting fabric forever, so I resigned. Shortly after that I left Pittsburgh. I sure wish it was like old times. O e of these days I am going to go to downtown Pittsburgh and walk around remembering. After that they sent her to open the restaurant of every Gimbels in the Pittsburgh area, North Hills, South Hills, Monroeville, Century III and finally Beaver Valley Mall. I am not sure about East McKeesport. She ran the restaurant in Beaver Valley Mall until she retired. I told her when she left the restaurant would close but she said no it wouldn't.
