My mother would take my brother and I, just to walk into all those beautiful chandeliers and the perfume department, ohhh the memories, especially one not sure what year) but they had a huge stuffed cow on the 5 th floor. Not sure of the floor but I was in awe. Whether it was stuffed or artificial, I will never forget that. Being around 10 in the 50's we visited Hess' many times, do not remember buying much but always had at least a dessert at the Patio after waiting in line and passing by that beautifully filled glass dessert display that always invisioned their famous strawberry pie, of which I have the original recipe for, if any one would like it, my e-mail is jirsb@yahoo.com, I could go on and on thru the sixties when I took my own children there and then there was 1995 when dear dear father of 85 years old and I visited it when it was The Bon Ton and going out of business. Store was practically empty, when we first entered, I could not hold the tears back, it was so devastating, so so saad to see such an ICON gone to pot. To this day my heart is saddened by that memory but I on a good note I purchased some beautiful Hess's Christmas glasses in tall size and the shorter ones. My father passed away in 1999, just to be with him on that day and to experience for both of us our heartfelt sadness, I will never forget, but the time we spent together that day <br />was one of the most heartwarming days of my life.
