Allied Stores bought The Fair of Texas in 1961. Its Dallas and Arlington stores were rebranded as Titche-Goettinger and the Fort Worth stores were sold subsequently to Monnig's.
ReplyDeleteI should clarify...Allied sold The Fair's suburban Fort Worth stores to Monnig's. I believe Monnig's downtown Fort Worth store opened in 1925. Monnig's ended operations in 1988.
ReplyDeleteIm looking for pictures i took as a little girl at the photography studio at the monings downtown Ft.Worth..There has to be some sort of archives or films or something somewhere..I would really love to find them..Any information would be helpful.Im even thinking of hiring a private investigator..From bk in the 70's
DeleteI should state that this information is "under construction" and I plan to put "The Fair's" downtown store here since I illustrate the ones that went to Titches on that page, and will show the ones that went to Monnig's here-Bruce
ReplyDeleteI used to work for the one in the Lake Jackson Brazos Mall. Can anyone give me more info on the stores. Maybe more pictures?
ReplyDeleteMy great grandmother made her living sewing and selling men's boxer shorts to The Fair. She had a shop out back at her residence in Poly. It was a lifesaver given she was a widower with 5 small children.
